Our servers use a sophisticated scoring method to determine if a particular message is spam. The methods used to determine the score include:
Public blacklists - Private and public databases of known spammers
Checksums / Fingerprint checking - The unique signature of a particular wide-spread spam message
Rate controls - Spammers trying to bombard the server with the same message hundreds of times
Bayesian Algorithms - A "learning" method that bases its score on previously received spam messages.
Intention analysis - If the goal of the e-mail is to sell you something or get you to click on a link, it is more likely to be spam.
Each of the methods above contribute to the total score. A particular message typically must meet multiple tests to be tagged as spam. We can adjust your threshold or tolerance for spam to any level you wish. With multiple small adjustments to these tolerance numbers, we can find your unique "AntiSpam signature". This signature will ensure that spam is tagged or disposed of as you wish.
